I am my resume. My resume consists of a reverse chronological list of roles played and dates I played them. Above that I list my capabilities, so that Candidia can see what further roles I might play for her. My real life is my family life, the role of spouse, father, son, brother, and my spiritual life, the role of Parishioner making his pilgrimage through the sacrements from baptism to last rights. Now, how did I manage to play these roles for the dates provided? By suppressing myself at all times. By keeping my mouth shut at work, at home, and never laughing in Church. So, the real me, is a fiction in the crudest sense, not art, but a con. People who forget that about themselves and speak of being "open and honest," "sincere," "authentic," or "serious," - who are they? Fools who have disquised their foolishness to pass for wise; knaves who bend their knee to say, "Thank you God for making me better than other men and women." Art, the stage on which roles are played, is more real than real life, because it is made from the same stuff - fiction. Art holds the mirror up to nature, as one dreams that he is dreaming.
