Eugene McCarraher on "The False Gospel of Work." What the product produces is the producer/consumer- and what a stunted, driven creature the producer/consumer becomes. While the Economist may love such a creature, the angels weep.
Imagine the Body Politic eating a chocolate eclair while squatting on the commode. Is this not the image of Wealth Bondage, where the eclair stands for the pleasures we provide to the rich, while the commode represents the Dumpster, and feces represents the comments in the comment section? Hard to flush that comment section. And now the odor wafts into the safe place where the wealthy feast. The World We Wantdoes not include shit. So, I am dispatched with the Plumber's Helper to unclog the drain. Why do I always have to do the dirty work?
