As usual I come in for abuse. I must say I get sick of always being the laughingstock just because I try to have good manners and see both sides of an issue. On the other hand, I am not the most forceful man in the world. I just wish the Happy Tutor would stop ghostwriting the Author Function's posts over at Gifthub; it is making me almost physically ill. A place for everything, I always say, and everything in its place. Let us at least show some respect for Candidia. After all she pays our bills, let's us sleep in the Dumpster and gives generously to Gifthub. Nothing good will come of biting the hand that beats us. Let's just write up a progressive manifesto, send it to a few friends, and leave it at that, ok? More anon. Must scoot. Coming Mistress Candidia!
Well, at least the Catholic Church has some standards, and I never heard a Pope claim that we was about to be Raptured, or that you just had to get washed in the blood and you got some kind of free pass to heaven, no matter how great your spiritual pride, your greed, and your wordly lust for power. Still, I do hope they don't burn this heretic at the stake.
Free WiFi for New Orleans? Wouldn't that be great for business and the culture, and for the creative community there? Yes, but, say Bell South. If you want a Dumpster or access to one, it's $69.95 per month, to keep the riffraff out, I suppose, but mostly to keep the Market Free and the Citizens in Wealth Bondage. Public goods in an ownership society are valued at zero, since no one can sell them long or short.

I am not as dumb as I look. I am dumb like Fox News. I am no college boy, but I am probably the smartest man you will ever meet, except for Bush, and you probably never met him.
Too bad so sad, Tookie. Get me the fucking book rights! We can let him have an advance. He can give it to the ghetto kids who love him so much. God, what a PR event! Makes the Crucifixion of Christ look like Mary Poppins. "Give us Barabas!" The Terminator himself as Pontius Pilate.
This is not a new topic; others have treated it with wisdom and profundity, online and offline. I don’t have time to search for specific links right now, but I’m sure Jeff Ward, Tom Matrullo, the Happy Tutor, and Ray Davis would provide more than enough grist for an edifying mill; I’d love to convene an online seminar on “authenticity” with those luminaries, chaired by Heideggerian philosopher David Weinberger — what a treat!
Count me in, AKMA. There are a lot of fakers out there. Let us band together for Authentic Speech. I'll see if I can get a referral from Ed Fuelner to some up and comer from Heritage, AEI, or Hudson. Ed can maybe get us a funder too, if you can keep it real about Freedom. For free, I can probably get you one of Bill Schambra's old articles. How about this one on Pew? It is already paid for, depreciated, and written off, so there is probably no charge, but I would have to ask. I am sure he would be reasonable. For $5,000 he can be pretty real, but if you can go $10,000 it he can be hyper-real. Surreal is gonna cost you. It is all according to your budget and his superior's decision as to the best strategic use of Bill's time and talent. Can we call it, Authentic American Olde Tyme Freedom Summit?
